Who will need to apply?
You require a director ID if you are the director of:
– A company, a registered Australian body or a registered foreign company under the Corporations Act 2001 (Corporations Act)
– An Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander corporation registered under the corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act)

You will need a standard or strong identity strength myGovID to apply for your director ID online
gathering your documents
You will need the following information:
– Your Tax File Number (TFN)
– Your residential address as held by the ATO
– Information from at least 2 documents to verify your identity
Example of the documents you can use to verify your identity include:
– Bank account details
– A company, a registered Australian body or a registered foreign company under the Corporations Act 2001 (Corporations Act)
– An ATO Notice of Assesment
– Super account details
– A dividend statement
– A Centrelink payment summary
– PAYG payment summary
complete your application
From November 2021, you can complete the application for a Director ID on the ARBS website
Note:
You will only have one Director ID even when you change companies, stop being a director, change name or move interstate or overseas. Once you’ve received your Director ID, you will be required to provide it to your company and accountant.
