My Roots

In 1999 Lejo achieved a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Management) from Notre Dame University in Western Australia and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), tax agent, a corporate secretary for several companies and a member of the CPA WA Public Practice Committee.

My Journey at Kennerlys

After a successful career including tenures with Arthur Andersen and Sothertons, and later establishing his own accountancy firm, Lejo took the helm of Kennerlys in 2006 and quickly expanded its services. His professionalism, dedication to clients, appreciation of his staff and tireless energy has seen him develop Kennerlys into a highly-respected and successful WA business.

My Passion

Lejo's success has been acknowledged with many awards and recognitions, including Kennerlys being named Best Accountancy Firm in its category in the prestigious BRW 2013 Client Choice Awards – testament to his world-class client service. He was also one of just three WA CPA IN THE BLACK 40 Young Business Leaders for 2012. Additionally Lejo was a WA Business News 40under40 award winner in 2011 and Kennerlys was a finalist in the 2012 Telstra Business Awards.

Drawing on his own experience, proven track record and ability to find solutions for many business challenges, Lejo has become a trusted advisor, sharing his thoughts and inspiring the business community by regularly speaking at industry events and seminars.

My Life After Work

Lejo is a respected and generous member of his local community, regularly contributing time and resources in helping local and wider communities and charities.

Sue Peterson Director

My Roots

Sue's early career began in Sydney where she worked for Public Accounting firm PN Burke & Co. A move from Sydney over to Perth with her husband in the 1970’s saw her join Peat Marwick (now commonly known as KPMG). After a few years she decided to start a family. After a short break Sue joined Kennerly Nicholson/Ernst & Whinney and the rest is history!

My Journey at Kennerlys

Sue joined Don Kennerly as a partner in the initiation of Kennerlys in its current form on 15th June 1990. Sue has been coming into work at 5.30am ever since then!

Sue has worked with a variety of small to medium businesses in different industries which has given her the practical experience to advise clients on a range of issues. Many of Sue's clients have been with her for the duration of her time at Kennerlys and she is now working with second and third generations of family businesses. Sue has over 40 years of experience in Accounting & Taxation.

My Passion

Sue enjoys working closely with her clients to ensure they have the skills to effectively manage their businesses on an ongoing basis. She believes in providing a personal approach and getting to know her clients. Sue's friendly nature and good sense of humour have ensured she builds long lasting relationships with her clients and she is always available for them when they need help. With the assistance of Qi Lin (Lin), Sue provides her clients a one-stop-shop with their taxation and superannuation needs.

Sue is a member of the Institute of Public Accountants and is Secretary/Company Director for various private companies.

My Life After Work

In her spare time Sue enjoys gardening, cooking and supporting THE WEST COAST EAGLES.

Qi Lin CPA Senior Accountant

Lin has worked her way up to become a Senior Accountant at Kennerlys since joining as a graduate accountant in 2010. She enjoys working with Sue Peterson and her clients, and the pair have built up a great team camaraderie. Lin prepares Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns for a wide range of clients as well as tax compliance and advisory. She completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Edith Cowan University in 2006, and is CPA qualified. In her spare time Lin loves swimming, traveling and her favourite movie is Walking Dead!

Josie Ge CPA Client Manager and Senior Accountant

Josie joined the Kennerlys family in April 2007. Over the past ten years, her unwavering dedication to clients and her broad knowledge of finance, taxation and superannuation has super-charged her career with Kennerlys from her first role as Corporate Secretary with promotions including Accountant, Senior Accountant and currently, Client Manager.

Josie loves getting in-depth with her clients’ business or financial situation and finding ways to better assist them with their financial and taxation reporting and planning. She has a proven track history of seeking taxation solutions for individuals, companies, trusts and self-managed superannuation funds and this success has helped attract new business and clients to Kennerlys.

Already holding a Master of Professional Accounting and her CPA award, Josie continues her professional development keeping abreast of regulatory changes and using this knowledge to further assist clients.

In her personal time, Josie loves dancing and reading.

My Nguyen CPA Client Manager

My is a long term Kennerlys team member having started in 2006. She currently acts as a Client Manager for Kennerlys’ clients, answering their queries and solving problems they have. As an avid researcher and having extensive technical knowledge in tax, she is also the first port of call to advise team members with any technical tax issues. My works on Tax Planning for clients and the preparation of Financials and Tax Returns for individuals, companies, trusts and self-managed superannuation funds as well as bookkeeping for various organisations. She is a qualified CPA with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Taxation) from Curtin University. My is so dedicated to Kennerlys and her clients, that she often works weekends.

Emma Hindmarsh CPA Client Manager

Building client relationships is Emma’s favourite part of her role at Kennerlys, and she enjoys developing a deeper understanding of a customer’s business and seeking improvements to assist it. Through managing her own bookkeeping business while completing Bachelor of Business, Emma brings small-mid size business accounting experience and sound customer service skills to the Kennerlys team.

Emma started with Kennerlys in January, 2012 after completing a Bachelor of Business (majoring in Accounting) from James Cook University in Townsville, Qld. Emma is now busy completing her CPA studies and currently provides taxation, accounting and monthly reporting services to a mix of small-to-large size firms and also individuals.

Aside from finding the winters a bit colder than she’s used to, the move to Perth has been a smooth and enjoyable experience for this energetic Far North Queenslander.

Alex Power Bookeeper/Corporate Secretary

Alex is the person behind the smooth operation of Kennerlys accounts and back-of- house finances. She also provides professional and extremely detail-oriented bookkeeping services for Kennerlys clients. Having joined the team in 2007, she knows Kennerlys’ business (and its clients) very well and is always looking for efficiencies and savings that assist Kennerlys and clients alike.

A Xero Certified Bookkeeper and experienced in ‘cloud’ accounting, Alex is the go-to person for anyone wanting more information and skills in these areas. Alex holds a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping and Accounting and is a practising member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers.

After she’s balanced the books, Alex balances her work life with time spent enjoying her young family.

Emma Sake Graduate Accountant

Emma provides general accounting and taxation services for Kennerlys clients and works closely with Senior Accountants on more complex accounting issues. She brings a sound knowledge of everyday taxation accounting from her previous role at H&R Block Tax Accountants.

Joining Kennerlys in November 2015, Emma has quickly established herself as a valuable team member. Emma holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Masters in Professional Accounting. In 2016 she plans to commence studies for her Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification.

Emma keeps abreast of new accounting and tax regulations and enjoys putting into practice concepts and strategies she’s learned through her studies into her work at Kennerlys.

In her spare time you will find Emma with her nose in a good book, cooking and dancing up a storm (not necessarily at the same time) and enjoying the great outdoors.

Suzie Power Corporate Secretary

Suzie commenced at Kennerlys in May, 2015 after returning to Perth from a year-long working holiday in Canada. Immediately immersing herself in the Kennerlys business, she provided high-level support to the accounting team and quickly understood other areas of Kennerlys operations and client services. A promotion to Corporate Secretary in November 2015 tasks Suzie with setting up new Trusts and Companies for Kennerlys’ clients and ensuring their compliance with ASIC.

Prior to her travel adventure Suzie spent seven years as a Laboratory Technician in a medical pathology lab and her excellent organisational skills and attention to detail are a perfect skill-set for her current Kennerlys role.

Suzie also assists the accountants and client services staff with their documentation needs and she enjoys the friendly, professional, small-team environment at Kennerlys. In her free time, Suzie's artistic side emerges as she enjoys playing guitar, writing music and photography.

Paige Richards Personal assistant to Lejo Ouwendyk

Paige joined the Kennerlys team in mid-2015 as the friendly face managing Kennerlys front desk reception. She quickly put her experience in customer service to good use, building relationships with clients, partners and staff and learning many aspects of the Kennerlys business. A year later Paige moved into a Personal Assistant role supporting Lejo Ouwendyk, Managing Director, and also planning and managing events including the popular Kennerlys Christmas parties and breakfast seminars. Paige’s organisational skills, energy and attention to detail ensure she keeps things running smoothly for Lejo, his clients and the Kennerlys team.

Outside of work Paige likes to wind down with family and friends. She hopes to broaden her love for interesting, good food with around-the-world travel one day.

Jaimee Tibbits Admin Assistant

Jaimee joined the Kennerlys team in September 2016 as our super organised and bubbly receptionist. While managing the front desk, Jaimee also immersed herself in the broader functions of Kennerlys by helping other staff as required, especially Lejo’s personal assistant.

In February 2018 Jaimee began her full-time studies at University studying her 'Bachelor of Nursing' degree. She continues to work at Kennerlys part-time assisting the team.

In her free time, she enjoys camping, going to the beach, picnics and bush walks with her partner and their energetic dog, Rambo.

Jaide Cook Receptionist

The first point of contact when you phone or pop into the Kennerlys office is Jaide Cook, our friendly receptionist. Jaide joined the Kennerlys team in April, 2018.

Having previously worked in customer service for Uni Bank, Jaide is a natural when it comes to being attentive to clients' needs. Her sunny disposition and eagerness to learn has enabled her to settle quickly into her role.

In her spare time Jaide enjoys catching up with friends and keeping active by hiking local trails and taking her dog to the beach.
